Day 1: Fundamentals

So today in class, it was interesting. We got to meet a new chef. He was talking to us about the coarse and going through lectures for around 3 hours.  After that, he gave a demo on cutting vegetables. We were cutting the vegetables in Julienne (for potatoes), Brunoise ( for potatoes), Batonnette ( for carrots), and Macedoine (for carrots). I had a difficult time with that.

After that, we made a paper pipping bag. Those are difficult to make. You have to move the paper the correct way to make it into a cone. Then we put chocolate into the paper pipping bag. And we used designs that were under parchment paper to practice piping.

The first 2 rows were some what easy but the last row was awful. I think I was going to fast with creating circles.

I thought today was pretty boring because it’s the fundamentals for baking. The class today was slow because it was the first day. Maybe it will better tomorrow. Practice makes perfect.

See you tomorrow!
